G29 / Drive Gas Receiver hitch
Hey guys,
One of the reasons I bought my 2013 was to tow stuff around the yard. I have searched everywhere for receiver hitches online. My problem is that mine still has the bag well, not a rear seat. I don't see me getting a rear seat in the near future. I don't want to spend $70 plus for a hitch that won't work with a rear seat. So, my question how does the Yamaha or aftermarket receiver bolt to the no-rear seat frame? Does it require drilling the rear frame? Sorry if this is a stupid question, I haven't had a full day to check the cart out, but I felt up under the frame, didn't feel any holes. thats what she said. I am thinking a cheaper way may be to just get a receiver tube at HF and weld some angle iron to it. then just drill holes as needed in the frame. When and IF I get a rear seat I can just scrap it or adapt it as needed. your thoughts? |

The holes are already in the frame.

I can run outside and take a quick measurement for you.

Re: G29 / Drive Gas Receiver hitch
Just went outside and looked at my cart. Did some measuring go with some 2" angle thick wall 12" long. The factory holes are approx 3.5" apart. But for extra strength I would still 2 more holes 3" on each side of the existing holes to give you 4 total bolts. You will need a spacer to weld to the angle iron to space the receiver hitch down enough so that it clears the plastic bumper. So maybe a piece of thick wall 1" or 1.5" square tubing 3" wide to weld to the angle iron. Then you weld the harbor freight receiver to the spacer. Probably cost you 20$ in materials including the hitch at harbor freight. A lot of metal work shops have scrap laying around might even give you the metal free.

Re: G29 / Drive Gas Receiver hitch
This was a tow hook mod that I fabbed up years ago that I never used. It would mount the same was as a hitch receiver. The problem with what I made it would not stick down far enough to clear the plastic bumper. So where you see the 1x3 tubing in the pic with the ring. Cut that off flush with the angle iron then weld the receiver bar below the 1x3 tubing
