Default Changing to six 8 volt battries

Going to change from four 12 volt to six 8 volt AGM batteries.
Looking for recommendations on which brand to buy.
Looking at the Trojan T875-AGM
Any recommendations based on your experience would be appreciated.

There a reason you are going AGM over lithium? Cost?

I don't like AGM batteries for golf carts - even though some swear by them.

Yes the price difference.
Have you done a lithium conversion? Cost?

Why don't you like the AGM?

In my experience in Arizona, they don't last as long as regular Trojan FLA batteries.

I have not personally done the conversion but there are a lot of people here on the forum who have.

I just got my cart a month or so ago and it came with less then a year old batteries so I am set for awhile. Cost is the main reason I have not gone lithium yet but will plan to when I HAVE to replace my batteries.

The power delivery on lithium is much better then lead acid as well as the range.

Check ENJOYBOT lithium batteries. Planning on converting to these soon.

So out of curiosity...can you quantify and qualify how it was that
agms didn't last as long Trojan FLA batteries...are you comparing
apples to apples...

Say the amp hour rating of each battery pack....for example if the
the Trojan battery pack amp hours is say in the 220 ah rating and
the agm battery pack is a 160 ah rating....no wonder then that
the Trojan FLA would win out as the higher ah rating would do a
couple of things...

1) is that the Trojan pack could go further per charge all else being equal

2) the other is that with fewer charge cycles for the same distance
and conditions (battery charging maintainance being equal)...
it stands to reason then the Trojan FLA shoukd win out....

Not exactly fair...

Now if the shoe were on the other foot, AGM with higher amp hour pack
would win out given that the owner would not need to be concerned for
FLA battery pack watering. That alone is a huge win in favor of the
AGM.

So to have a negative narrative against AGMs is nonsense....

People need to see both sides of the coin...

If an FLA powered golf cart flips there would be sulfuric acid spillage
and even on the passengers and the environment as well.

On the other hand if the same cart with AGMS flipped there will zero
none zilch spillage. Should the AGM batteries get punctured there would
be little to no acid spill because the acid is contained in a matt pinched
between the lead plates in each cell of the battery.

Another strong positive for AGM batteries.

There are those in my neighborhood who don't want lithium and
are looking to go AGM...tired of FLA maintainance and sulphuric acid stench
when charging....Not an issue with my AGMS.

My Crown 6crv 260ah 8x6v battery pack are 4 years old and closing in
on 8000 miles driven....not too shabby....is it?

So AGMs are a very viable golf cart power source here is a link
to Crown Batteries.

So best wishes
and
Happy Cartin'

AGM's don't take to overcharging as well - and most chargers over charge to balance FLA batteries. IF you have a charger designed for AGM's then they may last as long as FLA. I just don't like them for golf carts.
