Not sure what reducer you have but normally you would have 5 wires. 12v +-, 48+- and a trigger. In your case run the 48+- to the pack and the trigger to the large post of the solenoid on the controller side.

With the key switch wire on controller side of the solenoid you should be safe. You'll probably notice a delay until the reducer shuts off. Wrong wires would be a short within the harness...
