Default G29 Motor Replacement

I have a 2009 Yamaha.

I pulled the motor after the cart started jerking when the accelerator was pressed and then stopped moving all together.

I checked the windings, got 1.3 Ohms on the A1-A2 and 2.5 Million Ohms on the S1-S2.

Assuming the motor is dead??

The controller is also the default unit.

What is the best path going forward with the goal of having a reliable cart for years forward. New controller and motor or just new motor vs. cost of two options?

Thanks for your valuable fedback.

Keith

What is a 2009 doing with a Series motor? It should have F1, F2 not S1, S2!!!

Right... open the motor, check for wear, clean it and replace the brushes. Then, replace the stock controller with an Alltrax XCT 48300 / 48400 and you're good for years.

Ok, so 2.5 Million Ohms on the F1-F2 is good?

Is the issue just the build up of dust and brushes worn?

Thanks.

F1-F2 should only be a few ohms - maybe 5. Certainly not Meg ohms! Sounds like you have an open Field. You will have to disassemble the motor to see if the break can be fixed. It almost certainly broke at the stud inside the case.

Got it.

I am fine just buying a new motor. Should I stick with the stock controller?

Is there a better combo motor and controller now that I have it apart. I want a long term solution.

My wife is the one who uses the cart.. I need to focus my time on the boat motor not the golf cart.

I wouldn't replace the motor without replacing the weak, stock controller. This is an option. The customer service and especially the knowledge of Don Plowman is worth the money...
