Re: Digital voltage gauge install
Here a pic of the install.
The only thing I don't like about it, but been told it's normal. When running the Voltage/Battery % drops a lot, but but goes back up when static. I was hopping that the Voltage/Battery meter would drop as it lost power. |

The only way to have it measure both voltage as well as the remaining capacity is to have a meter with a shunt on the battery terminal. These are much more accurate and precise, but cost a lot more than 10 bucks. These are cool though because they also tell you how much current you’re currently drawing and other info. This is what I’ve got on my cart, I haven’t had a chance to cut a hole in the dash face to mount it yet though. |

As CP241 said, the percentage and voltage indicate static and what is happening when you drive. Voltage and percentage will drop off normally and then recover. Nice thing about these is if you have regen capability, it will show the voltage being put back into your battery as you let off the go pedal. The shunt meters are not necessary on fla batteries, but on lithium batteries they are a must have. If you convert to lithium down the road, leave this meter in and install the shunt meter. |

Re: Digital voltage gauge install
UPDATE
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Unplugged overnight - New in Dash Voltage meter showed 52.3 with 100% Testing batteries with a multi meter prior to a load test and after load test plus while doing load test each battery would go lower and then come back up to the 2nd number and hold. The weird thing is the new dash meter would hold at 100% while doing the load test. Guess playing this week I'll need to see what that does. 1) 8.70 - 7.95 2) 8.63 - 7.85 3) 8.69 - 7.93 4) 8.65 - 7.94 5) 8.70 - 8.00 6) 8.66 - 7.98 |
If that 2nd number is where it holds while driving the cart (around 47+ while loaded) I think you’re good. That’s a strong pack |
