Get your hands on a scan tool. That will tell you what it is. Sure beats throwing money at by guessing.

Re: 2010 tomberlin emerge speed sensor code
A bad speed sensor code is usually the motor failing. We got two that did this. The car expects to see the motor turning when you hit the accelerator and after a few seconds if it doesn't turn the solenoid de-energizes, a speed sensor fault is recorded, and the car shuts down.
Checking continuity between A1 and A2, and F1 and F2 you'll find an open circuit usually between A1 and A2. The Tomberlins are overweight and the motor is under spec for the weight. about 500-600 miles per motor is what you end up with. |

Re: 2010 tomberlin emerge speed sensor code
Have the motor rebuild by a good company here in the US and your good to go, motor will last 20 thousand miles. Its an advanced D/C motor or a swiss cheese motor, if you see one youll know why we call it swiss cheese, both are good motors but made in china versions, not so good. rebuild right, and they are rock solid

Re: 2010 tomberlin emerge speed sensor code
2008 Tomberlin Emerge 6 pass. 15mph half throttle. Any more throttle pressure and it stalls. Release throttle pressure and back to 15mph. I replaced the ITS/Hall and it still does it. Any ideas?

Just out of curiosity did you replace the magnet inside the sensor?

Re: 2010 tomberlin emerge speed sensor code
I've seen so many tomberlin with this same sort of speed sensor issue. After a number of test procedures I found out that the way they pick up the signal from the sensor cap differs from other carts running the same controller. The number one issue I've seen has been people replace the cap but then don't follow the "break in" as detailed by tomberlin. In short, Switch to tow mode, remoclve old cap, replace with new or known good. Switch to run, then before doing anything else turn on key Switch and clear old code. With Rear jacked up slowly apply accelerator upto 5mph , full stop then Switch to reverse and do the same. This is what they refer to as calibration/break in. After that run cart normally.
What I've found is that with an oscilloscope, the signal if drawn out or delayed unlike other cart brands. Calibration process keep motor speed below fault limit and llows it to understand the replacement sensor. By the way don't throw away your old sensor it's usually still good just lost calibration and can be resued if fault occurs again. |

I've replaced the sensor w/o calibration and used a sensor for Clubcar DS, much cheaper!

Re: 2010 tomberlin emerge speed sensor code
I just changed mine out and I found 2 issues. So replaced mine with a Tomberlin OEM sensor and magnet
So now when I press the pedal and I'm going 5 or 6 mph before the speedometer reads anything also the speedometer reading jumps all over the place. For example when acceleratoring the speedometer will show 10, 7, 13, all within a couple of seconds and never settles into a gradual progression. The second issue is I'm not getting any motor braking when taking my foot off the accelerator and no downhill assist. |
