Alltrax 36v to 48v - 1989 CC
Three years ago I upgraded to an Alltrax controller kit from Scottyb. Its been great! 1989 ClubCar 36v, original motor.
Now my batteries need replaced and want to switch from 36v to 48v, get some more speed. I don't know what I need to do to make this work. I have looked through the forum but don't see a clear answer. I can't find what model I bought, emails are lost. I'll be able to get to the cart this weekend. But thought I'd reach out to this group for links to other posts or any advice. Anyone got some advice on what I need to do to make the switch with the controller and or other things that need added? |

Re: Alltrax 36v to 48v - 1989 CC
Should be able to look in your tool kit (in the computer program) and see what model you have and then change the voltage setting to 48 volts. Next you'll need to get a 48 volt solenoid and resistor. You'll also need to get a 48 volt battery charger. If you haven't upgraded your battery cables, now would be a good time to do it.

Re: Alltrax 36v to 48v - 1989 CC
All of our C series conversion kits are available in 36/48 dual voltage. Check your solenoid voltage rating for the 36/48v designation.
If 36v you will need a 48v solenoid. You will need a 470 ohm pre charge resistor. The controller will not any program changes. |

Re: Alltrax 36v to 48v - 1989 CC
ScottyB -
Got down to the lake today to look things over. I plugged into the controller, everything looks ready to go, shows 48v currently on the left side of the program. I have the SW180 solenoid, and the sticker says 36v. I have both a black diode and a green resistor installed. Pic attached. Couldn't get the camera to focus on the text, but is does NOT say 36/48 on it. Can you recommend what I need to buy, is it just the sw180 36/48 and reuse the existing resistor and diode? Thanks for the help! Your product has been great over the years. |

Re: Alltrax 36v to 48v - 1989 CC
I got everything in place today. Hooked everything back up the way it was. Installed new 8v batteries, new solenoid and resistor/precharge thing. I am hearing the click of the solenoid, but the cart does not move.
I get this, Precharge Failure and Low Battery. Voltage across the pack is 49v right now. Any suggestions on how to get this running? |

Re: Alltrax 36v to 48v - 1989 CC
Check the battery pack voltage when you are trying to go.
Recharge failure is a catch all code for solenoid did not close. There are several possible causes. Ensure the diode and and precharge resistor are (properly) in place. Check for 48v measured between the 2 small solenoid terminals when you are trying to go. |

Software sees the pedal working through all ranges. Top lugs of the solenoid are seeing 49.6v, both sides when tested to (-) side of the battery pack. I'll test the small connections Monday. I'm frustrated. Just put a grand into it, and hoped for a plug and play. But afraid I screwed it up with a simple diode backwards. Scotty, really appreciate the help here. |
