Re: Icon Lithium
It looks like they have a new 105 Ah performance model (S51105P) with a higher maximum discharge. I wonder if that addresses the concern that led to doing two 56Ah.

Yes, my dealer has that on order and will be replacing mine with it when it comes in.

I’m starting to consider building my own pack as well - although I’m not adventurous enough to go down the recycled leaf battery approach. I have found what I believe to be the cells they are using in the new S51195P. Specs seem to match anyway and this is the same EVE model number LF105. There is at least one positive YouTube review on cells from this vendor. https://basen.en.alibaba.com/product...y_lifepo4.html Would still need to source case, BMS and charger but seems doable. Interested to hear others thoughts. Is this a stupid idea for a novice? |

Please keep us posted on what you learn. Lithium and smart batteries are a new thing for me, but fascinating and seems to be ever evolving with all that’s going on in the world with electric vehicles and battery technology in general.

So would you just combine these until you get to 51V (16) and then you would have a 105 Ah 51V pack? I assume you would need a BMS, do you have anything in mind for that? Depending on the enclosure this would be about half the price of a roypow system. |

Re: Icon Lithium
Correct. 16 of these + BMS + Enclosure + Charger & maybe a meter of some sort. I haven’t figured out the BMS yet and I think it would be a key component as it needs to support the high discharge rates. That was my math as well - half the price.
I’ve talked to a couple dealers and they seemed to confirm what I heard from RoyPow. Nobody has them yet and no firm dates on when they will actually have stock. But I’m guessing it will still be before I would get these from China. It does seem like a fun project. Still debating. |
