Default G21 UMax engine swap

Just picked up a real clean Yamaha G21, problem is bad engine. I would like to put a V Twin in it. I'm after something not too radical and pretty staight forward swap. Since mine is missing cluch and side engine cover I plan on going back with same style clutch. Will also put small lift on it. Give me some feedback on your swap and engine sugestions.

Yes better in BB section. You can put about any engine in there, some are cheaper the robin was really cheap at one time. For performance the vanguard is the best to modify, and a very good engine, very good stock even it can run high rpm with only a $100 rev kit. On the cheap you can buy a new clone 15hp for $300, I have put two of them in they make much more power than stock but don't rev as high as a vanny. Some used honda twins, but the new ones are a mess you can't do anything with them yet. Kawasaki another good engine similar to the vanny. It depends on what you find and what you want to do with it. There are clutches available for the 1" shaft engines. Not sure it will matter that much what v twin you put in since all are similar size, far as different brands, far as actually fitting it in there. If you buy a mount plate they may only fit certain engines, though you might drill for others. You can do more and put say a polaris quad engine in it if you find one.

Just remember it goes faster you need a better suspension and brakes, I've at the limit with mine and the clone. I pulled 37mph gps down the road and can tell you I worked to get the toe set right so it goes straight, but the bugs start to hurt at that speed. I never get that fast on trails. But the big torque of a larger engine is really nice taking off and hills/etc.
