Re: 70ish westinghouse marketeer restoration project
so this is what I got so far
Westinghouse 1970 golf cart restoration Journal Entry 1 October 17th 2012 I discovered this golf cart covered in weeds and moss under a large oak tree on a hill at my uncle's house. I knew I had to have it so I asked him for it for christmas and he said that I could have it. So me and Mark proceeded to start digging it out and found that it has a 36 volt electic moter that runs on 4 batteries. We then flipped it over and treated it with 2 cans of bug spray and fogger. The carpet was all rotted out and so was the roof so we scraped that off down to steel. Took out the 4 old batteries coated it in an anti-rust coating moved it onto a near by dirt path out of the weeds, put on the emergency brake and left it sitting there until I can find a way to get it down to where I live in the city. Entry 2 November 12th 2012 Havn't been able to get it down here due to the rain and other business. But I was able to make a check list of all the parts we need to get it going -4 batteries -2 replacement squares of glass from home depot -2 brake lights -1 head light -1 square sheet of plastic windsheld from home depot -1 can of black spray paint -1 can of spray on primer -2 bucket seat covers Entry 3 November 20th 2012 I have been trying to find the time to get it down here winter is nearing and the snow will make it very hard to get down the mountain its now or never |

Re: 70ish westinghouse marketeer restoration project
So Finally this week we got it down the hill and this is a pic from earlier tonight when we were unloading it off the truck
I'll post another pic when the lighting is better tommorow So far I have cleaned all of the sludge off of the cart, took apart the motor and cleaned it all with a wire brush everything looks good to me. I tested the brakes and they all work just fine. Although I did find some bullet holes in the headlights oh who am I kidding I shot it years ago |

Wow! A restoration journal?? It's nice to see your taking the time to document your actions. Looks like you have a pretty cool project on your hands although we can't tell by only seeing half of the cart.

Re: 70ish westinghouse marketeer restoration project
Entry No. 5 December 18th 2012
Finally this week the snow and the rain let up and we were able to get rid of all the snakes and spiders and trudge it out of the mud. We drove it down to my house in the burbs, and I began the 8 hour clean up process well into the night. Taking off every part in the engine and cleaning it. Now all I need is the batteries to get it running |
