Default cvtech 07 clutch

ok, just recieved my cvtech 07 clutch from Tom at CPP. I was running the stock yamaha g2 clutch with CPP's taper adapter on my briggs vanguard 16hp. Ive heard nothing but good things from these cvtech clutches and I know Tom knows his stuff, but so far I dont like the clutch so what am I dong wrong. It seams like this clutch wont let the motor rev out. It takes off much slower than my stock clutch and has crazy fast top speed. Besides different weights, is there something I can do to get more lowend power and less top speed? The new clutch does not align perfectly with the secondary clutch. Im going to move the motor over to align everything, but is that even part of my problem? what else should I check? or adjust? I know the 07 clutch has the roller bearing which wont let the belt drop down as far in the clutch, but I feel like its still not right.

Sounds like it's not "engageing fast enough", could be the wrong belt length or not set up for the right engagement RPM you want.
Sorry to hear your haveing a problem. Yes this forum is great for asking questions, but in this case, I would call Tom/CPP and explain what is going on. He is a tech genuis and is always helped me (and many others) with even the smallest tech question. Please let us know what happens, it could help alot of members with the same problem.

Before I bother Tom, I wanted to see if anyone else had any inpute. I originally wanted the clutch so I could shift while the engine is running and it works awesome for that so I cant complain. It does what I wanted it to do, but I would like it geared a little lower so we'll see. If I cant figure it out, Ill give Tom a call.

I would definitely shim the clutch or move the motor to get the clutches aligned correctly. Off center will cause belt drag and may not let the belt stay down as long as it should.
