Re: What can you tell me about this engine???
Thanks...
I Bought a 95 Yamaha and the original motor, as well as this motor came with it, both removed. They removed the yamaha motor to install this motor, and quit. Do you know if it would be an easy swap to install this motor? Should I just rebuild/repair the original and put it in? What horsepower would the Original motor have had? Well thanks again for the reply. |

Re: What can you tell me about this engine???
I'm fairly new to this carting lifestyle also but I do have a fairly extensive mechanical background with cars and trucks. And I used to race a 100 mph go-kart and do all of the wrenching on it too so from my perspective I would rebuild the original one or exchange it for a rebuilt one from one of the many rebuilders you can find on the web. Did you get all of the parts from them when you bought it? If you did then re-installing it should be a breeze. If not then you'll have to ask around BGW for the missing parts to help you out. I'm sure someone in here will have everything you need.

Re: What can you tell me about this engine???
It looks like I have all the parts, most all cables wires and so on look to be still in the cart, I got the exhaust and some other misc parts in a milk crate but most of those parts were exhausts and an air filter.
I to am very creative and wrench well, and thats why I wonder about fitting int he ezgo motor, the yamaha is a single cylinder, and the ezgo is a twin (9 hp I guess) I wonder what the yamaha would be? If it is close to the same I agree, put the original back, but if I gain twice the hp or there abouts it would seem like it would be best to swap it in, don't you think? |

Re: What can you tell me about this engine???
I have two EZGO's, one with a 295 and one (a workhorse) with the 350. They both run strong and I have no complaints with either one. I do know that the Yamaha is a good engine too. I really do not think you will double the hp of the Yamaha with the EZGO engine. If you research the shaft size for the clutch, rear end set up, how the engine mounts and all that kind of stuff and you don't see a problem then I'd say go for it! You will find that the readers in this forum love pictures so make sure you document your project and good luck!

Re: What can you tell me about this engine???
Well I guess I am taking pics tonight. lol
The ezgo is complete, including clutch, air box, wiring to some sort of control box, etc. It basically looks like it was removed from a cart removing only what was required. So I think it will just be a matter of motor mounts and minor electrical. |

Re: What can you tell me about this engine???
So I hear the stock 1 cylinder yamaha motor is a 9hp too, so would there be any benifit to swapping in this motor to replace the stock yamaha? Or would it just be best to rebuild the stocker?
