Default Drive Belt 440 Install Club Cart DS

Ok so I have a question in regards to the drive drive belt. Running the stock belt on the stock clutch with stock secondary. The belt is loose like it is supposed to be and is stock width but at idle the clutch is still engaging the belt and wanting to move forward. Any thoughts why this could be happening? It is also not allowing me to shift into drive from neutral. Again I have the idle set as low as it can go.

Engine may be idling too fast sometimes it’s hard to get them to idle
Down about 900 rpm

Thank you for your reply. That what I thought as well. I now have the idle adjusted as low as it will go with out the engine shutting down. I'm to the point I am scratching my head. I think I completely understand how it is supposed to work but it is not.

The only other thing I can think of is when I did my conversion I also used a stock clutch and sent it off to Tom at Cartpartsplus and he rebuilt it and changed the springs for higher engagement so it MAY be trying to engage at too low an rpm . You could call him and he could probably sort it out for you !

You said this is a 440 Vegas Carts engine? You might want to try posting in the "Clone" section, you'll get more help.

A loose belt should make it easier to get into gear. That is, unless the clutch is engaging and the sheaves are pulling the belt higher up.
