What speed upgrades can I do?
I have an 89 DS that is 36v. Cables are good, batteries are likely to be replaced soon with Trojans. Im ignorant in knowing what all can be done with these older carts. Mine has these coils under the seat, what are they for first off and can I do anything to them or the motor etc to pull some more speed out of mine? what can I expect to get from it or can I?
Thank you |

Re: What speed upgrades can I do?
You could add two batteries or get 8 volt batteries to make it 48 volt. The coils are for differant speeds. There are better motors but if you go that route be best to upgrade to a motor controller

If I made it 48v what would I have to change to not blow up anything?

Quote:
Low speed resistor coils will run hotter, and V-Glide contacts will be stressed. Changing direction without fully releasing the throttle will tear up F/R switch if its micro-switch is sticky. |

Re: What speed upgrades can I do?
I've went to 48v. And like the other guy said that solenoid will keep failing.I went back to 36v.
Iam now in the process of putting a 48v. Controller and upgrades. |
