Default Upgrading Cables

With a 6" lift kit and 22-11-10 tires, do the elecric gurus think I should upgrade to 4ga cables or just leave them alone? This cart will be hauling a little more weight than a stocker, plus turning larger tires. Just wondering...

I know with my dads CC it has the stock 6ga cables and it doesn't run very good at all. If I were you, I'd upgrade it to 4ga.

Upgrading cables will help any electric cart....... When you make the switch to bigger tires and/or a high speed motor, the motor and controller will pull more amps. Smaller 6g cables have a harder time supplying the motor with the needed amps to do the same job as when it was stock. The smaller cables are like feeding a 600hp small block chevy with a 3/16 fuel line.....the motor starves for fuel. As a result the cables get hot. Upgrading to 4g or bigger cables doesn't give you more torque, all it does is help the motor develop its full potential.

I have a friend at the lake who lifted his 2002 TXT. He would drive in a certain hilly part of the park the cart would shut down. Every time it would shut down the cables and controller were hot. He could let it cool down and it would go again. I told him he needed 4g cables.....we made up a set of 4g cables for it and the cart HAS NOT shut down since.

All depends on how much you want to spend. The ones I make for all my carts now are made from premium 4g welding cable, soldered on copper lugs and sealed with shrink tubing. I dont crimp the ends any more....to me they just dont seem to hold up as well and they have a cleaner look than crimped. The "to crimp or solder" is a whole other argument all together.
