I just used PayPal for a sale. But you can use Venmo, Zelle or mail a check. I would avoid credit/debit cards.

If possible do business with someone who's been active on the site for a while. When dealing with an individual you don't get the (limited) protections of eBay, so if it's a high dollar item get the seller to list on eBay and be prepared to cover the seller for the fees in the purchase price.

I'd also suggest not paying with paypal as a "gift" for purchases. No paypal charges, but you also cannot despute a paypal transaction when a "gift" payment is made, as no goods were considered purchased when a "gift" payment is made on a purchase. Best to pay a bit more to seller to cover fees so he/she is not out the paypal fees, and have paypal protection.

A few other pointers.

Do not accept a cashier's check. They are very easy to forge and your bank will initially give you credit for it, making you think it has "cleared". However, the actual clearing can take three or more weeks and if it is fake, your goods will be long gone.

Never send Paypal as a "Friends and Family" unless the recipient is a friend or family member. No reputable seller will require you to take this risk to save them a few percent. If you do, expect to get ripped off and understand that Paypal will not be able to help you in any way. Always purchase goods through Paypal as a "goods or services". If it doesn't arrive or is significantly different that described, Paypal "buyer protection" will get your money back to you. Usually pretty quickly as well.

I like Paypal. If you have a debit card, CashApp is very easy to use from a mobile device.
If you need to use a money order, do it from the US Post Office. Then send the payment certified mail. Truth is, scammers are everywhere, and can look very legit.

Most people are using PayPal. I actually really don’t like them, but they are the only ones that have buyer protection for personal sales, so it’s probably your best bet.

Good luck! There are a great bunch of helpful people on here for sure!
I know some people are nervous about including a location, but at least an idea would be helpful when buying or selling.

If it's a good deal, just contact me first! LOL
