So what are you trying to accomplish? Speed or torque or both? how is you cart used?

Both, I live in Naples which is very flat but sometimes i like to take the cart through the trails which are very sandy but most of the time the cart is just used to drive up and down the street singing misheard lyrics to my dog.

I like this cart. I have 2 of them in my fleet.
One has a XCT400 with FSIP speed motor in it. Good power, amazing speed to 27.5 on 19.5 " tires.
One has XCT500 with FSIP Torque motor in it. Amazing power, good speed to 25 mph on 19.5" tires.

In your case I would go with the XCT500 and a FSIP Torque motor... you will get added speed with the new taller tires too.

This is a thread about EZGOs in the Extreme DC section. You'd be better off starting your own thread here: http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/forumdisplay.php?f=13

Thumbs up Re: what is a good motor/controller for the 48 v TXT

I just installed a Navitas 48 volt controller 600 amp in my 04 PDS cart. I had to upgrade the 36 volt wiring harness to 48 volt one. It was a plug & play after that. I have 23" tall tires and it's runs right @ 38MPH on flat ground here at the beach in SC. Very impressed.

This thread's a little old now. Got any pictures of your finished cart. What I can see here reminds me of my old army jeep.
