Default Ignition key left on

Hello. I have a 2000 CC DS 48volt. If the ignition key is left in the on position for several hours at a time without using cart can any damage be done or any parts controller or maybe solenoids have premature wear? What about if its left on overnight? Kids in household! Thanks for any responses.
