1987 Cart Clicks wont Run
Cart had motor in seat when bought. Cleaned Brushes and ran motor from Accelerator prior to install. When installed only clicks. Had 3 ohms resistance in motor windings. Ideas?

Re: 1987 Cart Clicks wont Run
Welcome to BGW.
What is your Battery Pack voltage? Might have been enough to spin unloaded motor, but won't move it under load. (Fully charged 36V battery pack is 38.2V) Also, does cart move freely? Ought to be able to move it with one hand on ground while sitting on cart. |

Cart pushes freely. Measured 32.3v. I am going to clean connections and put back on charger. Will post new voltage. Thanks

Re: 1987 Cart Clicks wont Run
Those batteries are deader than just dead. No wonder they wouldn't move cart.
If they have sat in that discharged state for more than a few days, the chances of any of them recovering are about nil, but you might get them to store enough energy to make sure the cart works, so charge the daylights out of them. If you've got an automatic shutoff type charger, let it complete its cycle, then restart the charger and let it shut off automatically again. Do this 5 or 6 times, then let the batteries rest for at least 6 hours and then measure individual battery voltages as well as total pack voltage. Keep an eye on electrolyte levels while doing this. Don't let the plates get exposed, but don't fill until fully charged. Use distilled water only. Here is a State of Charge chart, as you see 32.3V isn't even close to the bottom of it. |

ok
Pack reads 38.1. Clicking is louder and no movement. It is like the engine has not torque. Suggestions? |

Tape the meter to the pack and tell me if the voltage drops when you try to go and it clicks.

OK
Goes to 3.4, 2.8, then 2.2 as it clicks. Thanks |

Is that one battery? Where did you connect the meter during your test? If that's a battery HOLY FRICKING CHIT
That's horrible. |
