battery state of charge meters! Whats best??
Ok I got a EZ GO medalist that I put a txt body on and have installed a headlight kit radio and would like to get a new state of charge meter. I currently have an older meter(needle style) and it is all yellowed out. So I am looking at getting another meter and reall ylike the looks of the led meters but they almost all seem to have to be hooked up to a relay. Do the led style run the battery low pretty quick if you are not running the cart much? I use mine about 3 times a week running the boy around the neighborhood. I ws thinking if they do use quite a bit of juice I could use a weather resisitant male and female hookup and just unplug it when its stored and plug it back in when we hit the road. Or should I just buy another analog type? I am just looking for some input and have had a ton of luck with all of your help! Thanks!

Re: battery state of charge meters! Whats best??
The analogue meters draw very little and LED meter draws next to nothing ... You would have to connect about 60 of them to draw 1 amp.
I have had the test meter hard wired to a cart for 8 months out in 15 inches of rain and sleet and heat.... without so much as a hick-up. It is water proof and reverse polarity protected. No relay needed, just connect to the batteries or through the key switch. |

I have the same one (got it from Scotty) and it by far the best. the Bar meters do not really tell the story.
