You'll need a charger that isn't just a power supply with a timer (like the older models). You'll need one that senses the voltage to shut off. I don't know which ones are the 'good' ones. I'm sure JohnnieB or ScottyB will recommend one soon enough. You'll want one that will float charge too. Some do, some dont.

That seems to be what everyone goes with now. I don’t think the newer dpi’s have float charge, or it was changed in some significant way.

I'm just not sure what I'm going to do for battery cable ends. The terminals on these batteries are small. Even though it says made in the USA, it has a 10mm bolt head and .232" bolt size for the terminals. I'm not sure they make 2 gauge cable ends with such a small hole. The smallest i think I've seen is 5/16"

Yep, that's perfect, thank you very much. I just ordered 2 packs, 10 pieces total. That will be enough to do the batteries and a couple of extra. I was going to make some copper bushings in the lathe, but this saves me a lot of time

You could always get some copper tubing with a 1/4" I.D., that will fit the 2 gauge wiring. crimp one end on the wire and flatten the other then drill whatever size hole you need. That's what I was originally planning on doing until I ended up using the 2/0 welding lead instead of the 2 gauge leads.

That's a great idea, thanks. I ordered the lugs with the 1/4" holes, if they don't work, I'll try the copper tubing.

Made one lug to use with my 6 gauge cables. I'm going to use three 12 volt batteries just to make sure everything is wired right and works fine. Then I'll start buying the necessary parts to utilize the 48 volts. Thanks again for the idea.
