Default Par Car 2 stroke engine swap

My 1992 par car 2 stroke is giving me a headache

It runs but has no power (runs 6 miles/hr...)
Changed sparkplug, piston rings, fuel pump, cleaned carb, checked compression (95 cold and about 85 hot)

So now im thinking to put another engine in.
Reverse is not important so a 4 stroke will be possible.

The conversion from vegascarts will not work because i have another rear axle.

Thinking about a Honda GX270 or 390.
The have the correct rotation (counter clockwise)

Anyone has expercience with this or has tips/trics. Maybe another engine more suitable?

Thanx for any help

I don't know if it's more suitable but a 400 artic cat snowmobile engine is supposed to work. I haven't looked at all the details of it.

No clue about the swap.

I bet your secondary clutch needs replaced which is why you aren't getting speed / power. Compression is good, fuel is good, you have spark. Not much left it can be other than the transmission. Changing that secondary would be a lot easier than a new engine. Just my 2 cents though. Believe me. I have been so mad at my carts I was ready to throw each of them away at times. I get where you are coming from.

I find myself in the same situation.I offer these ideas. To go 20 mph with with gearing in these carts you need 6000 rpms. To have a reliable 6000 rpm clone you are going to have to use the vegascarts version. Point 2 is the 2 stroke harley /par car primary clutch doesn't easily adapt to the clone crankshaft so a comet 780 or some other stocker clutch with an adapter is needed. Buying these new parts comes to about $850 and you still have to come up with mounts and an exhaust system. So after watching some youtube videos I started looking for a 2 cylinder air cooled snow mobile engine. Several used the suzuki F/C 440. So I found one with the clutch, carb, ignition, and exhaust manifold.I hope this simplifies the swap. STAY TUNED. I hope this info helps you in your decision.BUT if you are happy with 14 mph or so as some one else suggested look at your clutching and belts that would seem to be the speed the stocker should do safely.

Thanks for your replys. I think my secondary clutch is fairly new. Previous owner changed it i think and it worked well before hand.

How can i determine if it is faulty??

Unfortunately, I don't believe there is any way of definitively checking the secondary clutch. I just go by process of elimination. If I know everything in an engine is working ok but a cart still has no speed / power then the issue has to be in the transmission somewhere.

I have multiple carts so it's pretty easy for me to get a known good clutch off a cart and put it on a cart with a suspected clutch for testing purposes. With only one cart it's tough. You may want to try to lube the axle of that secondary really well to make sure it isn't sticking. Can't hurt.

Please see the video on youtube of my engine and clutches

Does is revs enough? (without load, wheels jacked up)
What do you think of the clutch assembly?
Does the engine tilt to much?
