2003 cc magnet / speedsensor replacement
I'm new here however I have read several posts about speed sensor issues. I have pulled the sensor, however the magnet will not come out. Can anyone help. Also I took the two screws out from each side of the sensor. Was this wrong?

The cars serial number starts with PQ03. I just read another post saying not to take the screws out.....I already did. How do I start fishing for the retainers?

Take the cap off of the motor. Go to the hardware store and find a screw that matches one of the ones you removed, but longer. About 2-3 inches long. Use it as your fishing pole. I believe it's an 8-32 screw. Once you get the long one you can screw it into the bearing retainer a little, mount the plate, and use the longer screw to position the plate while you start the small original screw. Once you tighten the original screw, remove the long one and replace it with the other original screw.

Re: 2003 cc magnet / speedsensor replacement
Thank you sir. To be sure, the motor cap is at the same end as the speed sensor? Should I purchase a new magnet along with the speed sensor?

Re: 2003 cc magnet / speedsensor replacement
I have removed 3 of the 4 bolts holding the end cap on. Cannot get enough of a grip on the 4th (1:00 position) to loosen it. 5/16, 8mm, & wd 40 have not worked. Any suggestions?

Re: 2003 cc magnet / speedsensor replacement
You do NOT need to take the end cap off...if you remove those long bolts the motor will disassemble and you will have to pull it out to get back together! The first part of the advice was good...a longer 8-32 screw about 2 1/2" long will allow you to get the bearing retainer plate repositioned and pulled up so you can start the shorter screw...I find a small Phillips screw driver handy to help with alignment so you can get it started...then screw the shorter screw in but not tight and take the longer one out...start the second short screw if you can or return to the short Phillips to realign...once you have both short screws threaded then tighten equally and don't ever take them out again unless you decide your going to completely disassemble the motor. Good luck.
