That makes me feel better, guess it just needed a longer charge than I thought. I'll put it back on this evening and watch it to make sure charger is still cutting off on its own to be sure.

Thanks, Nole.

This is a great forum and sticky!

I have an AQ0517 Club Car with newish batteries (<2 yrs) which I charged for a bit last week after the cart sat for a few months. (Plan to get a maintainer soon.)

The 22110 charger I’m using started off last week drawing 15 amps and when I had to unplug it was at least below half of that. Batteries now show almost exactly 48 volts.
Car won’t move forward or reverse. Charger does not turn on. But wait! I tried again and now it is charging! Possible that I earlier plugged in dc charge cord on receptacle and then ac cord in and OBC needed to see power at charger available before it would signal relay to send a charge ? (I.e. does order matter when plugging charger cords)

Then, having read some of the follow on questions and remarks on this sticky, I realized that perhaps the charger kicked on without a delay.

If the charger is working, apparently the OBC is sending that signal but could it be that at ~48 volts charge the cart wouldn’t move or that the OBC has another issue ?

I don’t know much about carts or batteries but I know in auto 12 volt batteries the full charge is above 13 volts and anything close to 12 is considered fully discharged with regard to starting at least.

I’d wait to post this now that the charger is working but perhaps the questions are worth answering(?)

I also wondered why the blue and red lines to the charger relay are connected via another line - not consistent with my recollection of how most relays work.

You should let the charger run until it cuts off. Fully charged is 50.93 volts 12 hours after the charge completed. While charging, you will see upwards of 61-63 volts towards the end but it will be low amperage. The OBC will control the charger and cut it off when fully charged or at 16 hours it will time out.

48v is only about 44% charged. But at that voltage, the cart should operate. I would fully charge it before I did any further testing.

If you need troubleshooting help, post a new thread down in the forum and we can all help.

When I plug in the charger, it spiked to the right then the reset trips.
Just had new fuse and rectifier installed in the charger.
Tried bypassing CBC but changer buzz then the reset trips.

The breaker (reset to you) are notorious for getting weak and requiring replacement. Is that a Powerdrive 2?

Rectifier is either hooked up incorrectly or the transformer is bad.

The rectifier will have four terminals, with labels indicating which is which. The labels will be printed around the edge of the rectifier. "+ - ~ ~"

Negative - Brown
Positive - White
AC ~ - Black
AC ~ - Black

The black transformer wires can go to either AC~ terminal. Polarity is not important.
