Default KF82 Valve Cam

Took engine apart during rebuild only to find that the metal plate on the valve cam had broken off and was laying in the bottom of the crank case. Looks as if a rivet broke off and then ripped the metal plate off. The gear looks in good condition, any ideas for fix? Any one have a valve cam? Can I tighten what I have and go without the metal plate? I think I have seen another post about the rivets breaking off although I could not locate again. Thanks everyone!

Juts get some strong machine bolts and nyloc nuts and you should be good to go. Just make sure you shorten the bolts enough so that they don't hit anything while spinning.

Thanks Skoal, I am going to try replacing with bolt and lock nut. I will keep your parts inventory in mind!

mine was broke also. I ground the heads off the rivets since they were loose in there without the metal plate then pushed them out. Swaped them for socket head cap screws with nylock nuts. 8-32 if I remember right. ran it for a year or so like that with no metal plate with no issues until I pulled the motor and did the clone swap. see post #9 :
