Re: Turbocharge a 10hp Diesel....WHAT?!?
Back when I built my box I think 14ga 1x1 tubing was $9 for a 20 or 24' length. Could have built a house out of the stuff. I scabbed a piece of stock car aluminum sheet for the bed, spent all the money on a piece of 2x8 cedar for the sides and gate. The corners are some light sheetmetal angle from something. Looking at it now I realize the heaviest part is the wood, but not sure what I would replace it with. The tubing is pretty light and strong. Its held shut with a spring loaded pin from tractor supply or similar place I found it. Like a 1/2" pin its so tight it never rattles. It tilts on 3/8" bolts. I've had it full of wet sand, I've loaded wood picnic tables on it upside down lol.

I think I'm going to put a trap door in the bed, that way I still have access to the engine bay.

Actually, it doesn't need an intercooler, I'll pass on the blow off valve, it doesn't create that much boost, the most I've seen is 10psi.

Re: Turbocharge a 10hp Diesel....WHAT?!?
Yeah, haha that would be funny, but totally overkill. 10 psi is still very good for a fist size turbo. Do you know if this will work with a gas 4 stroke engine? Or would you need an EFI conversion for that?

Re: Turbocharge a 10hp Diesel....WHAT?!?
With gas you need a way to add more fuel with boost, and take timing out. Sometimes you need to reduce compression.

Re: Turbocharge a 10hp Diesel....WHAT?!?
Yes, the mixture would need to be enriched to compensate for the boost. Also depends how many lbs you're running. As far as timing goes, my flathead has fixed timing, so probably should stop thinking about turbocharging it

Re: Turbocharge a 10hp Diesel....WHAT?!?
Hey DSK, Unless you know beyond a shadow of a doubt, there really is no way of knowing unless you do it! None of my buddys believed a 10hp, chinese diesel was going to last, and then I turbocharged it and they were for certain the head wasn't going to stay put or i was going to blow off the crank case cover....well it just goes to show that There's Nothing To It But To Do It!
