Default will 8-6 volt batteries work for 48v conversion

Ok already have new batteries and was thinking about upgrading to 48volts. So I thought I could rebuild battery rack to accept more batteries. I have seen allot of discussion about 8volt and 12 volt but never 6 volt. Seems to me that would give me more capacitance.(more weight all so) Am I Nuts?

8 - 6 volts works very well. I have two of mine in the bag well. I also have an auxillary batter under the driver side of the seat for stereo, headlights, etc.

Oh, and BTW... welcome!

OK I thought I wanted to go to 48volt and do it in stages but for now after getting a new controller(500amp) and heavy duty diode and wires I think I can live with 36 volts but I am worried about my foward and reverse switch but I have not noticed a Yamaha heavy duty switch? Is the stock one fine? If not anyone got any sugestions

I would swap it over to a F/R contactor and do away with the little F/R handle stuff.

Here is the one in the 48 volt club Car I did. The cables are the same and u add the toggle switch and wiring.

No, not really, you can't be satisfied at 36v. Go, Go,Go, to 48v. You will never regret it.

Just a up date I ended up buying forward revers switch from carts unlimited( super duty ) after melting my stock one and then tried to convert EZ go heavy duty switch for Yamaha. Which went very poorly. Finally bought the conversion and it works great! Had to do some wiring mods on the control side for the controller to work. I still haven't maned up on the 48 volts yet but all my components are ready for the conversion.
