55 gallon drum is doing fine. I have a problem with my drain field. Tree roots keep trying to clog it up, but I just pour some of that line cleaner that detroys anything organic and its works fine in a couple of days.
Understand this cabin is only used by me and my wife on a limited basis. If you had ten guys using it for a week, I am sure tank would overfill and clog. But you could add extra tanks in a series for more capacity.

the wife and I just bought a cabin that will be used for weekend use. I was thinking of doing a system like this and only having the toilet hooked to it. And only to be used by the lady folk and for when you really have to go, if ya know what I mean. There are plenty of trees around for the fellows. I was just wondering if it was worth the work or if it was more trouble than it is worth.

The toilet is the only thing I have hooked to my "septic" tank. Yes, it is worth the effort. It keeps the wife happy and its alot better than going to the woods on cold or rainy nights. Make sure you vent it.
