I would do a compression check before doing anything else that way you know what to do next.

you sure the fuel pump is working? my cart has had a boat primer bulb and hose for yrs as the previous owner didnt wanna fix the fuel pump i guess..
real easy to take the line from a boat tank if ya have one and see if it makes it run any better.just a cheap thought

Is it possible that my muffler could be clogged up causing too much back pressure? I was told when I bought it that the automatic oiler did not work reliably, so to just mix the fuel. I ran 5gal. of 48:1 fuel in it and when it ran out put another 5gal in and have been having sporadic problems since. I then found it is supposed to be 128:1. I saw on some forum where people were talking about putting the muffler in a bbq pit?

In-laws in for a couple of days, so I am having trouble getting to work on the cart. All of the plugs they had at the auto parts store have a longer thread than the champion plug I have in the cart. Would that cause a problem with the piston hitting the plug. All of their cross referenced plugs have longer threads. Can't find my compression gauge either. Dang it!

Is anyone familiar with this bbq method? I sure don't want to mess up my smoker with oil fumes. I am thinking I can prove this by taking the muffler loose and seeing if it runs. This will be after a new plug and compression check though. It has tried to start twice after cleaning and drying the plug, but wouldn't stay going. The spark is white not a strong looking blue but eyes are not what they used to be either. Trying the easiest things first,as it was running very well for over a year now since we got it. Previously owned by a mechanic who kept it in good shape.

Also the fuel pump seems okay, as it will give a good amount of fuel when the line is pulled off and cranking the engine.

hey steve,,from what ive read they build a big hot fire and get r going good, then throw the muffler in on top and leave it for 2-3 hrs till all the wet sticky 2 stroke oil is burnt out,,maybe flip it after a hr or so someone will chime in if im wrong..im gonna be doing this sometime in the next few months also..

the plug,,huh,,yes,,if the plug is hittin the piston its more than likely the wrong plug..ive read to only use qaulity ngk in them..and i use them in all my boats and there great..theres plug part numbers here somewhere also..good luck brother

oh shizzit!!24th anniversary today and i forgot to got to the store,,i better leave now

dont put it in the smoker please, haha
