Lightbulb Tachometer terminal EFI Koehler ech440 (club car onward)

Anyone have experience where to connect the tach lead wire. Looking for a tach terminal wire but the manual does not show one on the ecu. Thanks

Just as a note, I already tried the negative side of the coil (per the install instructions it says to use either Tachometer Terminal or Coil negative side).

There is no tachometer output off the ECU. The ECU uses the coil negative wire for tach signal.
If you can't get a clean enough signal from the negative wire the best option you may have is to return the tach and get one that has a pickup sensor that wraps around the plug wire.

Thats what I was afraid of. I was excited to have a super cool Tach (really for looks lol). Sounds like that is not going to happen though.

What tach did you buy? A lot of the higher end ones can use adapters for various different applications.

I haven’t used one but the Equus 8068 is supposed to be a good option.

Autometer 3-3/8" TACHOMETER, 0-16K RPM, IN-DASH, PHANTOM ELITE DIGITAL
It’s all white

I just ordered AiM MyChron Inductive-to-Signal RPM Pick Up ARP05 today. I’ll post the results

Go through the instructions and double check that you have the tach programmed correctly. The newer digital tachometers tend to work on alot of different engines but you do still need to program it correctly before it will work. The signal that it picks up could also be interrupted by the rev limiter or other wiring nearby, so make sure it is connected directly to the coil and not to the wiring that runs to the key switch.

I reached out to autometer they said none of their products would work without a old style coil or a tach output.

Great news though the AiM MyChron Inductive-to-Signal RPM Pick Up ARP05 worked and the tach works great. There are tachs that have this built in but I wanted a certain look. I’ll post pics soon. Cheers
