Default Hein & Kim's American Landmaster 36V UTV

Hello,

Deep into a Landmaster 36V UTV project and just joined the forum. With all due respect to the wonderful folks who moderate this forum, I don't have the patience to wait 7 days before I am allowed to post a a technical question. So please forgive me and read the question below and reply to my email if you can help.

All the best,
Hein

=========begin technical question===============
Greetings,

Thank you for allowing me to post a question to your forum. We recently purchased a Landmaster 36V UTV with a SXDC GC Kinetek controller. The controller is missing its cover and the one internal connector cable that supplies 36V to the controller when the run/tow switch is actuated.

The UTV has a male molex 2x2 plug that fit the cover but not the controller board. So a jumper is needed to allow connection to the appropriate controller input pins. Below is a photo of the controller board. The 36V connects to at least two of the pins in the 2x3 or 2x5 female ports shown. Believe the 1x4 is for connection to a USB port so pretty sure that's not it.

Thank you for your kind assistance. I am new to electric carts but have been studying the wiring diagrams and searched online but can't find any relevant documents other than the Kinetec product sheet and Landmaster Service Manual.

Hein, Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to BGW. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in it...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's, wives’, husbands, girlfriend’s and boyfriends here don't care....and take it easy.

oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.

Welcome!!

The wonderful folks at American Landmaster provided the technical support needed to get the UTV running. This vehicle had been upgraded to a Gen2 controller which did not need the 36V input via the 2x2 plug. Instead it was powered via a spade connector which I had wondered about. So a fused jumper from the contactor B+ to that terminal solved the initial technical mystery.

Also, one of the leads to motor was connected to the wrong place. Glad that didn't cause a dead short. Also installed a 36V to 12V DC converter instead of drawing 12V off of only one battery. And a 300A main disconnect switch with 300A terminal fuse on the positive battery post. Incandescent halogen bulbs were all fried so replaced those with LEDs. The controller allows for a USB connection which can be used to monitor and alter the performance. Will try to get that functioning next. Got some new tires for the front because they were leaking air through the sidewall. Did get them to hold air with some liquid sealant but probably won't hold up.

Fun times quietly cruising around the property and wife enjoyed going to get the mail at the end of our private road.

All the best,
Hein

Installed an hour meter and more accurate digital volt meter. Working on cord reel for plugging in to charge. Added a bicycle horn and bell for safety. Need some rear fenders....

Would someone like to see photos of the upgrades?

All the best,
Hein
