Re: fe290 to fe350 motor swap
The 95 fe290 is a counter clockwise engine. Not sure what year the fe350 is but if it is 97 or newer it will be a clockwise engine. If this is the case you will be going the opposite direction than what shifter shows. Which reverse is a lower gear than forward.

Re: fe290 to fe350 motor swap
Pretty sure all of the 350s were clockwise rotation...So you need to check yours. I think your 95 will be counterclockwise...But hey, here is a post from doolin who just completed this type swap and then went to a high speed gear set up to compensate.......
Holy Cow! According to my buddy's gps it will run 33.2 That's awesome! Before the gears it gps'd at 20 mph. Keep in mind I am shocked b/c my cc has reversed tranny. So my reverse (new forward) gearing should have been lower than my forward (new reverse). I'd hate to see what it does in the new reverse. Ruredy said around a 5 mph gain boy did I get lucky then. I have 20 inch duro desserts on there. I am not sure what the ratios in a carryall are to begin with or if they are the same as a regular cc cart. Hope this helps you. |

Re: fe290 to fe350 motor swap
Would the starter on a 95 fe290 turn clockwise to start the Counter clockwise engine? When I looked at mine the other day the starter said it was a clockwise starter. So I just assumed the engine was clockwise too. Of course you know what happens when you assume. But I would like to get that straight.
