Try charging the battery and see what happens! May be a weak battery. The solenoid picks up and the high current draw drops the battery voltage - which then drops out the solenoid. Voltage returns and the solenoid picks up again and the process repeats until battery finally gets too weak to continue the process. In your case you're geting 5 "DA'S". Hope that makes sense !! Next you should check for dirty/corroded battery terminals and also make sure all starter/gen terminals are clean/tight. Poor connections can also cause these symptoms. Good luck - RAY

I had the same problem and it turned out to be the connectors on the wires. I cut them off and put on replacements that has the wire under a bolt down clip. Must have been corroded inside the connector.

Next would be to start checking for dirty corroded connections in the starting circuit, starting with the battery terminals. That should include all the high current (heavy cables) connections. When the starting system tries to get high current from the battery, needed voltage is dropped across dirty or corroded connections (high resistance !). See also the above reply from "rando". Good luck - RAY
