2008 Club Car Precedent - Wobbly Ride
I have a refurbished 2008 Club Car Precedent that has 2 issues:
(1) The cart is mechanically unstable when driving at speed (wobbly and the cart feels like it moves laterally, especially at high speed). (2) The cart pulsates when climbing uphill (or in general under higher load). Per #1: I replaced the front bushings and realigned (camber and toe-in). Did not have an impact (old bushings actually looked pretty good). I did notice that when toe-in set correctly and steering wheel centered, the tie-rod thread count on each side is quite different (11 threads vs 6 threads). Also, camber is about 1/2 inch. Is this unusual? Tires are somewhat warn, but don't appear to be wearing unevenly. I am looking for suggestions on most likely culprits for the two issues listed above. Thanks for anyone's help. |

Look at this thread and read how Dave from Revolution (tahoedawg) advises how set the front end...

What lift kit do you have on the cart?

If you have a high speed cart, I have found that if you set toe-in to straight to toe-out 1/8" you will be very stable at speeds especially around long gradual curves. Won't wear tires any more than 1/8" toe-in but will be stable. I do this on every cart, lifted or not, that I have installed lithium and upgraded controllers. Try it Also for the pulsing, try this if you haven't already done so. pump go pedal 10-15 times fast then KS on and try it. If pulsing goes away, replace the MCOR (from David at Revolution) |

Re: 2008 Club Car Precedent - Wobbly Ride
Thanks movin-on. The procedure per the link you provided was pretty much the method I used.
I will check the batteries Nader load. One other observation: when I was replacing the bushings, I disconnected the front shocks from the rest of the linkage. I noticed that I could move the pistons easily by hand. Does this mean they are shot? Thanks again for any feedback. |

With the front jacked up is there movement when pulling and pushing on the sides or top and bottom of wheel.

I have mine to factory spec however and it is rock steady at very high speeds, but I'll say that the factory Club Car lifts have a lot of slop (1/8 easy, measured at tires) in the upper A arm pivot especially but really the whole front suspension assembly isn't ultra tight tolerance-wise. This meaning the toe-in varies depending on how the cart is loaded. I guess ideally it should be set with tension pulling back on the tires like it would be loaded during forward motion. |

Re: 2008 Club Car Precedent - Wobbly Ride
Thanks for all of the feedback. I have basically rebuilt the suspension (at least new bushings front and rear, new shocks, and new bumper jounces.
The stability is better, but there is still some wobble. Is there a way to determine if tires are the cause without putting on new tires? I haven’t replaced the steering linkage, but there isn’t much play in the steering wheel. What else? |

Re: 2008 Club Car Precedent - Wobbly Ride
The front suspension on a Club Car is junk. You can replace every item in it and still have the same problem. The only solution I've found is to install a Double A-Arm lift kit.
