36-48 volt budget cart
Just finished another budget conversion and thought I would share the results for anyone looking for info on this.
Donor cart was a 2003 36 volt series cart Installed a Chinese / curtis 1205 style controller 500 amp. less than 200.00 If they dont have the one for your cart you can buy any of them and have someone with a handset program it for you. Batteries were 2 1/2 year old green interstates that are 8 volt 170Ah. These are a little soft as they are only 50 volts at full charge, but came from a lithium swap so the price was right. Removed the rotator F/R switch and installed a contactor. I think this kit is around 350.00 at buggies unlimited. Used existing 6 gauge cables except on the batteries I used 4gauge. Charger I used a summit 2 and mounted it onboard. Final results were not too bad. At full charge 50 volts the cart ran 18MPH steady and had plenty of torque. Not too excited about that I ordered a set of 8:1 gears. The cart now runs 23-24. Not bad for the investment |
