Inexpensive theft alarm
I have to park my cart exclusively outdoors and while we live in a very low crime neighborhood, stuff still happens. I'm not under any illusion that I can prevent a serious attempt at theft, that's why it's insured. However, I wanted a basic motion sensor alarm with remotes that would give me some level of protection and it had to operate off the vehicle battery.
I finally settled on this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073LD3TLH...roduct_details. It's <$10 with the 50% off coupon. Easy to install, sensitive enough to ignore wind but trigger with any intentional movement of the cart. Two remotes so my wife and I can control it as we use it. It also has a 9V battery backup which can be tucked out of site so if they cut the main battery cabling, it will still sound. Plenty loud. I know if would probably only scare off kids intent on mischief but our houses are very close together so it's going to alert some neighbors if it fires off in the middle of the night. I never know where to post stuff like this since it's not strictly Yamaha gas related but don't really see a catchall to cover all all brands/types and the general BS section has so much completely off topic, think it would get lost. If someone has a suggestion on a better place for something like this, please share. |

Re: Inexpensive theft alarm
That would work fine.
The only thing I’d recommend to someone who is concerned, make sure to get one with an input for a pin switch trigger. Then you could set up a switch under the seat so that if someone knew there was Ana alarm and lifted the seat to get to the fuse/wiring/module simply lifting the seat open would set the alarm off. Pin switches are cheap and easy to install. I also like tilt sensor better than shock sensor but both have their uses :) |

Re: Inexpensive theft alarm
Yamahas are so easy to steal, the newer quiet tech ones I can have running as fast as someone who has the key. So I do agree you need something on a yamaha for sure.
