2008 RXV won't run after sitting
Having trouble finding out what to fix. 2008 RXV runs immediately after coming off the charger and will run for a round of golf. Once it sits after running, whether the key is on or off it will not run. Only way to get it going again is to turn the tow switch on then off, they the cart will run again. Have replaced the key switch and checked for bad codes (repair shop). Anyone have any ideas of what the problem could be?
Thanks |

Re: 2008 RXV won't run after sitting
Corroded connections will cause similar symptoms. My cart started doing the same thing especially when the weather was humid. Another post recommended sanding every connection. I was even getting lower voltages at the controller. It almost seemed as if when the batteries weren't totally full, the cart would not run. After being in denial for about a week and at wits end, I took off every connection one by one and sanded the connectors with 320 grit sand paper (was all I had at the time). I then put dielectric grease on each connection. Wow what an improvement for only about an hour's worth of work. What I thought was a controller going bad was just a bunch of faulty/corroded connections. My cart works perfect now. I even think it's a bit faster. So, I'm now a believer. Give it a try and make sure you get all connectors while your at it, not just the batteries connections but key switch, F/R, solenoid, controller, etc. Just my two cents worth.

Check the pack voltage + voltage of each single battery first. The volt meter is your best friend.

I wouldn't sand any kind of connector! Connectors have plating on them to make good connections and sanding them will ruin that. It might work for a while but not for long. Clean the connections with contact cleaner. I use Deoxit for that.
