Default 1992 club car won't budge unless plugged in

New batteries, new solenoid, tries to move, but only goes if plugged in to the charger.

What is your pack voltage 12hrs after being charged? Individual battery voltages as well would be good to know.

Question Re: 1992 club car won't budge unless plugged in

All batteries test good. 2 cables were replaced. Charger working good. Must be a micro switch, but they test fine. Why does it go with charger on...I noticed old solenoid had jumper wires from big terminal to big, and front to back, so I put them back on the new solenoid.

I removed those solenoid jump wires and now the cart won't go while on charger. It's trying to move, but feels like a brake is on?

When you say batteries test good what does that mean? Resting? Under load? Both? What were the values?

Those 'jumpers' are a resistor and diode, and are needed. Put them back on, and properly. The diode has polarity. The banded end goes to the positive, across the small terminals. The resistor goes across the large terminals.

Thank you. Found that out from Ballard repair here. He also found the problem. One bad battery blew up at their shop. I guess you need to charge each battery separately to determine their condition. Volt meter told me 6V on that battery, but it must have been rotten inside.

That's why you get asked specific questions here on this forum. A 6 volt battery reading 6 volt isn't necessarily "good". 6.4 is fully charged, and you also have to check voltage under Load to know for sure.
