Default Convert TXT 36v to 48v Lithium

Getting to the point the existing lead acid battery pack is no longer reliable and we need to replace.

Given the cost of replacement, debating whether to double down and convert to 48v at the same time, however was hoping someone could confirm what I’m getting myself into.

EZGo 36v TXT ~2007 or so
Motor is an Advanced Motors AO2-4012

From what I’ve gathered, at minimum I’ll need to purchase:

Single 48v LiFePO4 battery
Alltrax Controller SR48500 (pkg)
400amp HD Solenoid (pkg)
New 48v lithium charger

Do I need a different motor as well? Have seen conflicting info and would prefer to keep costs down if possible and it can be avoided

Planning to purchase the item #4 package from Carts Unlimited

https://www.cartsunlimited.net/alltrax-sr-series--.html

Thanks for the help

From my understanding, from post I've read over the years on this forum, you can continue to use the 36V motor after upgrading to a 48V "package".

However, this will cause the life of the 36V motor to be "cut short". But....run it until it breaks (IMHO).

Other's who have upgraded carts to 48V while leaving in a 36V motor in should chime in to provide you more information.

From what ive read 36v motors will run fine on 48v and the effect on their lifespan completely depends on the type of use or abuse it will see afterwards. if your overheating it with continual hard heavy use and long WOT runs yes you can kill it but then 36v can kill it just the same in that scenerio... Its actually pulling more current with 36v to get the job done vs 48v.

OP it sounds like you have done your homework and should be fine with your list

Much appreciated, wasn’t sure how many had not upgraded the motor but good to hear I’ve got ducks in a row here
