2004 Par Car Eagle - Batteries and Charging Algorithms
Hello everyone,
I picked up a 2004 Par Car Eagle 48v and it's time for the batteries to be replaced. I've tried charging them individually, but not getting any consistency across all 8. I'm looking at US Brute Force, Powertron, and Rocket by Electro. My concern is the various charging algorithms that are available. The owner's manual (dated) does not list these batteries so am I comparing amp/hr ratings to set the different algorithms? I remember in the past when charging the existing older (purchased around 2014) Powertrons, sometimes it smelled like the charger was cooking the batteries. Thanks in advance and see attachments from owner's manual and a newer version of different battery listings. |

11 is a pretty safe one. The labels on the batteries aren't real helpful because it doesn't really tell you who the actual battery manufacturer was since they really only come out of 2 or 3 plants, and just get different labels slapped on them at the end of the line, depending on the quality selected during the process.

Re: 2004 Par Car Eagle - Batteries and Charging Algorithms
Hello @Tech Support,
Not sure if I’m going crazy but, looking at the sequence, this looks like it’s running at 11 already? The two batteries that couldn’t quite make 5.6v charging manually are showimg their signs. I got to 80% and thats it and the battery’s are just boiling. I’ll be getting locally either US Battery or ElectroBattery this week. Do you happen to know what voltage this charger should be sending the batteries without a load? I measured each battery while charging and they were around 6.51-6.58v. Should I relocate those other negative wires off to another post so they’re separate from the negative wire? Thanks in advance https://youtube.com/shorts/QjB9qyN1INg?feature=share |

Re: 2004 Par Car Eagle - Batteries and Charging Algorithms
They arent boiling just gassing. Its normal. Let them finish the cycle. If you dont they never will get to full charge and will always do that full stage and never finishing stage. Just make sure well ventilated area. If you have one or two that are lower than the rest thought youre correct that they will bring the rest down and you might consider first bringing those up separately with a stand alone car charger so they are all equal.
