It started the engine fine. I guess the old battery was bad!

Time to shop for a new battery

What's the best option for the pride, normal flooded wet cell or a deep cycle marine?
I would stay with a flooded battery like the group 26 or 26 G. It will fit perfect in your battery box and if you still got the hold down keep it in place. I buy the 26G at NAPA. Not sure which cable ends you will use but the 26 G is what came in the cart new. Group 26 has the automotive posts on it where the 26G doesn't
I just noticed your cables and the 26 G would work perfect for you. Either one will work. If you do use the 26 then get you some marine cable ends.
Hurry up and get that thing running. I want to hear it purr

I'm tempted to buy the same size, 426G. Just because the battery box won't have to be modified at all and I won't have to buy marine battery adapters for all the ring thermals on the wiring

My smaller lawnmower battery has much less cranking amps and started it fine

I just like the better warranty on the automotive batteries, the more reserve capacity and the better cranking amps

The warranty on most tractor and small engine batteries is 90 days

The two pack of marine terminals are under $10

I went with a Group 26 battery from tractor supply, made by Interstate

525cca
715ca

My old 426G had 450 cca and 560 ca

$109 with 2 year warranty

Too late but I took a grinder to my factory hold down bracket and was able to fit a group 31 battery in my workhorse.

The 26 fits perfectly and no modifications

I looked at the Group 31, but the weight and specs and price wasn't worth it to me

The group 31 battery is heavy also, I wanted to keep as close to stock weight as possible

Deka 426G is 27.5 pounds
Interstate Traveler 26 is 29 pounds

I want to eventually get some 25" tires so I'm trying to not have a heavy rig

Some Group 31s are 55 to 65 pounds

Fair enough.. I just did it at the time because it was half the price of the 26 and much higher capacity for lights and such. I also use it to jump things off.

I think when combined with the 4 gauge positive and negative and 4G engine ground cables, the Group size 26 will work well
