Default Fan

Why did Comet stop putting the fan on the 780 drive clutch?

What fan are you referring to? I have yet to see this fan before... Maybe before it was bought out.. Do you have a photo of an older unit?

comet drive clutch - 300418a Here's picture of a fan on a comet clutch. It's a comet 500 clutch used on a Kawasaki 4 wheeler. I made a mistake quoting it as a model number 780. They look the same in pictures with no perspective. I still think it is a fantastic idea and the 780 would benefit greatly from it.

That's why you keep your fingers out of the way. It most likely went under a cover that limited its air flow.

Well I wanted to update this thread and show the finished product. A fan cooled comet 780 clutch. It works a little to well, I want a 4 inch fan instead of 6. Moves a lot of air. Here's a video of it running.

Pretty neat.

Do you have your engine mounted with the rubber anti-vibration mount from VC?

Yes it's rubber mounted.

Is the engine rocking back toward the rear end when you rev it up or does it just look that way in the video?

My self-engineered rubber mount system was doing that.

I noticed when I have the top cogged belt on it makes some air flow.
