Melex 252 brakes
My model 252 only has the one drum parking brake set up. Should it have brakes on the axles/wheels?

Re: Melex 252 brakes
You can see if it has backing plates on the rear hubs for brakes. Mine is older but only has the band brake on the motor. It works fine. If it has the seat brake mechanism and no rear brakes it will have two brake cables. One from the spring loaded seat brake - if you get off the seat it is applied. The other goes to the brake pedal. They both attach right next to each other on the brake band. I removed the seat brake completely on mine as it was too rusted. I found a replacement cable on eBay and everything else can be cleaned and oiled.
