Re: Checking Batteries
Checkem 1st day of every month.... until you find how often they need water. They use more water the more you charge them and in hotter conditions...

Re: Checking Batteries
If you have not checked them recently then check before charging~ You can't do much more damage than charging a dry battery. So if you need to charge and they are low, put water in until it is 1/4- 1/2 inch above the plates. Then recheck and top them up to the proper level (see picture a few posts back) after the charge.
So to answer the question filling after charging is the preferred way... but water anytime is better than no water... |

Re: Checking Batteries
We check/fill them more often on the golf course. Every two weeks.
Keeping the terminals clean is also very important. On one we just had our dealer take and repair was cuz of dirty terminals. |

Re: Checking Batteries
Yeah, the more often you recharge then more often you will have to replenish the water...

Re: Checking Batteries
Since we are on battery maintenance, the picture is a good one . . . be sure to leave a little gap at the top.
How many have closed, auto-fill systems? How many fill by individual cell? How many who fill by individual cell, have fillers designed to shut-off at the proper level? What kind of water do you use? Tap? Distilled? Purified? Filtered? |
