Impact of Alltrax XCT48300?
I have a stock, 48v, 2011 Club Car Precedent Excel. (Serial PH1143-XXXXXX). Only addition so far is brand new batteries about two months ago.
Flat out, on a flat Texas road, the cart maxes out at 11 MPH. Voltmeter is solid throughout at 47-49 and there aren't any hiccups, noises, or staggers while driving. I'm hoping to get that speed up closer to 20 so my cart isn't the slowest in our group and they can stop waiting for me. Looking through the threads here I've found a lot of things to try, like the Speed Sensor test, solenoid test, and mcor test. Nothing stands-out as abnormal from any of those at this time. The next steps are to look at replacing either the controller or the motor. Each are relatively close in price, but the effort involved in replacing the stock controller with the Alltrex XCT48300 is much more appealing than the effort and downtime of motor work. Alltrex controllers look to be well recommended throughout the forum, but i'm curious to see if any one has first hand experience with a similar set-up and thoughts on if the controller or motor replacement is my next best step? Thanks! |

IMO an Alltrax is the best upgrade to do first. Not only from a performance increase but also the user adjustability. The stock motor really wakes up.

Re: Impact of Alltrax XCT48300?
I put the XCT300 in my stock Precedent and got 22-23 mph with 30% more torque (power) and faster acceleration. If this is your first time installing a speed controller in the Precedent you may want to use the Alltrax install guide and kit.

Quote:
Speed Codes: Speed Setting 1 = 8 MPH Speed Setting 2 = 13.2 MPH Speed Setting 3 = 14.8 MPH Speed Setting 4 = 19.6 MPH (Private Code) With your Sepex system, the best bang for your buck will be the Alltrax Controller. The XCT48300-IQ is a Plug and Play replacement and can be mapped for your stock motor. As mentioned above, you can get 22/23 mph on stock tires or faster with 22's. |

Thanks Sergio. Did not know they changed them - always thought the IQ/Excels were synonymous in that regard...

Re: Impact of Alltrax XCT48300?
UPDATE:
I have installed the Alltrax XCT48-400 IQ from D&D into my precedent. End-to-end install was a couple hours to remove batteries, drill mounting holes, wire everything, and put it back together. With no modification to the settings I hit 18 mph on flat ground and 21 downhill. Huge improvement over 11 mph with the stock controller. Thanks all for the advice! |

Report here which motor you have and which map is installed in the controller. There may be a better match-up for a couple more MPH

Re: Impact of Alltrax XCT48300?
I am with scotty, you should definitely be seeing more if the motor is set to 6000 rpm's and the amps at 400.
