It doesn't have active balance which is a nice feature.

I know it's used in some off the shelf batteries, maybe roypow? Personally I have not used it.

Thanks. I didn't catch the passive balance spec.

Ok....another matter\question\thing.

I found the same JK BMS on Ali https://www.aliexpress.com/i/3256806...apt=4itemAdapt On Ali I can apparently select between RS485 (Model ending in "P") or Heat\CAN (Model ending in HC).

I understand what the "heat" thing means, and I may never need that, but since this has a CAN chip, will it communicate with my existing CAN charger?

I know I'm being a PITA with this, but my knowledge isn't as in depth as you engineering type.

Let's put it this way, just because you're a CPA here, do you know how to file taxes in China?
It's the same thing, both BMS and charger need to speak the same protocol. CAN is merely the wires between them, not the tax policies and rules.
I have no idea what protocols either the charger or BMS support. On solar systems, you go through the menus and match manufacturer and model to setup the CAN protocol.

Thanks. See.....I didn't know that. I thought "CAN" was "CAN" and it was a universal protocol.

But.....Noooooooo.......

Dave, I've just replaced my JBD BMS with the JK. It was the 200/300a relay type. Very robust built, thick silicone cables with cable shoes ( the JK doesn't have this ) but, mine had an issue switching the relay properly. Can't say if this is typical for it? One thing i'll definitely miss with the JK BMS is the Bluetooth dongle of the JBD! I've placed the dongle outside the metal battery case with a much better range Anyhow, I hope the JK will be reliable ( looks good so far )

As a matter of fact........no.

But I can do and have done Canadian returns. They speak the same language......sort of.

I figured out via Ali how to send an email to the maker of JK. I provided all details of my charger and ask if there product will talk to my charger.

We shall see.
