![]() I just read that the Evolution D5 series is limited to using Evo batteries only.
So, if I replace my defective Evo battery with say, an ECO or Allied lithium, it bricks the cart? |

As far as CAN messages though ... The D5 does use a lot more messages than the previous models but the controller and BMS are senders and the touchscreen is the receiver. (the touchscreen also sends and the soundbar and growler are receivers also). AFAIK, the controller does not require incoming BMS messages to function. The controllers reads voltages from the 35-pin connector. So with an ECO or Allied battery, I would expect the touchscreen to no longer display BMS faults and SOC data. A test that you could try - disconnect the BMS from the CAN Bus (connector with wires 52 and 53) and see if cart works and what doesn't. |
