FJ Controllers - FDEV Internals v20240618 - Evolution, TAO, Gorilla others

The previous FJ FDEV Internals thread has mostly been taken over by help requests and license issues so starting a new one for a document update.

The attached PDF describes the FJ Motor Controller FDEV data file.

Common FJ cart controllers include:
- EV48-400
- EV48-400-A
- FJ 350A
- FJZC-S1-350A
- and others

An Evolution EV48-400-C is NOT an FJ controller and the descriptions in this PDF do not
apply to that controller!

An FDEV data file defines the parameters that are read/written to the controller, the menus that you see on the Programming Tool and some special fields such as device type and match key.

The attached PDF gives an overview of the FDEV internals while attempting to not go too deep into the weeds.

Is the .fdev file read from the cart or does it need to be provided with the software before making changes?

The FDEV is a data file that the FJ programming sw uses to determine your controller's memory addresses of the parameters. It also defines the valid data types and ranges of those parameters.

The FJ sw must have an FDEV file loaded before connecting to the controller.

probably just need the tao flic and fdev in place of the evolution versions that are part of the programming tool distro
