Alltrax 400 or 500 PDS ?
After the advise I had gotten here I decided to go with the Alltrax DCX400 for my PDS cart over a rebuilt controller. As I started looking around getting prices, one place (I've read about here) sent me a email that Alltrax recommended the 500 for lifted carts and 400's for stock carts. Do I really need a 500 ? This is a $175 question, that is the difference in price.
They also said that the 500 would shorten my stock motors life. I'm not second guessing anyone's opinion here, just looking for conformation. |

Re: Alltrax 400 or 500 PDS ?
From What I Was Told The DCX400 PDS Is The Largest You Can Use With The STOCK Motor. If Your Cart Is Lifted You Need To Change The Stock Solenoid. The New 500 & Their 600Amp Are For Larger Motors.Actually I Don't Know This For Certain,It's Just What I Was Told. I'm Currently In The Process Of Installing A DCX400 PDS In My 06 Stock EZGO PDS.

Re: Alltrax 400 or 500 PDS ?
HHK- I've been doing some research on this myself lately and from what I've read it will shorten the life of your stock motor. But some of the advantages of the 500 vs 400 is if you ever plan to upgrade the motor you'll have all the power there already. Being that the 500 is programable you could set it up to run at 80%,until you upgrade then change it to 100% and then all you have to do is HANG ON !!!!!!!

Re: Alltrax 400 or 500 PDS ?
I'm building a cart now for a customer that will be using a 500amp Alltrax with a re-wound high speed motor based off of the high speed ADC motor found in Freedom carts. It will recieve high speed armature banding and a ported housing.
Will be running on an 01 Fleet with lift on a 48 volt system. Should see the 30mph mark - or there about. |
