Default 68 Starter Generator replacement

The starter generator on my 68 3 wheel cart looks like it is toast. I took it apart and wires are broken. It says "made in england" on the end.

My cart has the narrow 1/4 inch belt - Is there a replacement starter generator I can buy and put my narrow pulley on? Or do I have to find a used correct replacement?

Thanks ahead

Scott

Those starters were the same from 1968 all the way through the mid-2000s which were Columbias by that point. They were very common starters that were used on all kinds of different machines to include EZ Go and Club Car golf carts.

This one on Amazon will work:

Note that I am NOT suggesting to buy from Amazon. That's your choice. That particular posting has a ton of part numbers associated with it, though. You can Google to any / all of those to source one that's best for you.

It depends on the year. The early ones were European
The later ones were Hitachi.

My 1982 had a Hitachi. A used one the previous bought was also a Hitachi. Vintage carts lists the Hitachi from 1967 - 2008 for HD and Columbia carts, BUT the service manual also lists SIBA and Bosch units. Another source list the SIBA units on the 1967-1969 and the Bosch from 1969-1971 HD carts.

SO IF all that other info is correct your 1968 should have had the SIBA
